We are thrilled to share some exciting news with you all! Since our special general meeting in January, St Brendan’s has taken a significant step forward and completed on a long-term lease of the Portway RDC. This strategic move marks a milestone in our journey and presents us with incredible opportunities for our long-term growth and development.

What Does This Mean for St Brendan’s?

By taking over the Portway RDC, we are expanding our footprint and enhancing our capabilities in ways that will benefit all members of our club and help secure our long-term future. Here’s a glimpse of what this exciting development entails:

Pitches: the site currently has two full sized grass rugby pitches, floodlight grass training grids and an all-weather training area. We think we will be able to expand and improve the playing surfaces giving us as club more pitch space and also opening up opportunities for other community sports groups to use the facilities.
Gym: the Portway also boasts gym facilities comprising well equipped weights and cardio rooms. This is not only a great facility for club members tom use but also gives us an opportunity to generate income to re-invest in the site. There aren’t many (any?) clubs locally with comparable gym facilities.
Creating a home: in addition to the pitches and gym we think there is an opportunity to create a space that can be used for social and other purposes by the whole club and the wider community.
Growing our club: With our new location at the Portway RDC, we are now more accessible to a wider community which will allow us to engage with a broader audience and welcome new members into our ever-growing family
Community Engagement: the acquisition of the Portway opens possibilities for the club to expand its programme and run community initiatives. From youth development programs to, to women’s sport, to elite training camps, we are excited to leverage these new resources to offer a diverse range of opportunities for our members to learn, grow, and thrive. There is more to come on this in the next few months.

Special Offer for St Brendan's members

We are thrilled to announce a special offer for St Brendan's members! Club members joining the gym before 31st May will benefit from the current membership fee of £21.55 a month for the next 12 months. Club members will also benefit from a month’s free membership each year (if a club member has paid by direct debit for 11 months of membership, the 12 months will be free).

There is no contract or minimum term commitment, and we will also offer a day pass at £7.50 per session.

Join Us for a free Open Weekend!

We are pleased to announce that we will be holding an open weekend for club members (aged 16 and over) at the Portway Rugby Development Centre. From Friday to Sunday, on April 26th to the 28th, you can use the gym for free! We encourage as many of you as possible to come along and try it out. All we ask is for you to register your information for health and safety reasons and enjoy the facilities.

For anyone who is Under 18, we will be setting timed slots between 2pm and 4pm on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th April.

What's Next?

As we embark on this new chapter, we are committed to ensuring a smooth transition and maximizing the benefits of our expanded facilities over the coming years. We will keep you updated every step of the way as we roll out new programs, events, and initiatives at the Portway RDC. We will be running consultation with all sections of the club and would encourage you to participate in this.
